OUR PASTOR, HIS CALLING, HIS COMMITMENT & HIS FAMILY
“Become a preacher.”
Three simple words that would go on to change the lives of thousands around the world.
In 1978, Chief Apostle H.C. Gunn, the founder of The Body of Christ, Inc., heard these powerful words from the mouth of God.
They were a call to enter the ministry and live a life that would show others the transformative power of salvation through the word of God, and Jesus Christ.
Chief Apostle Gunn answered that call, and left everything behind – literally walking into his purpose, traveling miles on foot from Alabama to Florida to begin reaching souls in North Florida.
Living out his mantra, “changed lives prove ministry,” Apostle Gunn founded The Body of Christ, Inc., a non-denominational church, in 1990. He has impacted individuals and families by serving as an inspirational servant-leader and spiritual father and contributing to the development of churches, schools and medical facilities around the world.
Preaching the mind of God to all who will hear, Chief Apostle Gunn has traveled the U.S.; supported and provided spiritual counseling to a range of ministries and local, regional, and national leaders; and has reached more than 22,000 people across the globe, including Russia, Germany, France, India, South Africa, Haiti and the United Kingdom, through direct ministry, givings, prayer support and the powerful blog “The Watch Letter,” which features his teaching and messages.
Through his God-breathed, prophetic teaching and healing ministry, testimonies of triumph have emerged in the lives of those who have been broken and battered by their pasts, but now are walking in the inheritance that God has intended for their lives. Chief Apostle Gunn’s ministry is underscored by the personal insight and attention he selflessly provides to each person entrusted in his care.
While he considers all of his parishioners his sons and daughters and sisters and brothers and treats them as such, Chief Apostle Gunn and his beautiful and God-fearing wife Apostle Felicia Gunn (our co-pastor), have four biological adult children, two sons-in-law, and 11 grandchildren. In total, they have adopted countless children and grandchildren around the world and within the local body. They have stood by the sides of many who have experienced life or become motherless or fatherless. In fact, the children of the church affectionately call them "Pop Pop" and "Grandma!" The Gunns believe in sowing at-all-costs into the lives of others, no matter the sacrifice, with a desire to honor God in all things.
Together, the Gunns’ work to build up the church toward God's will and endeavor always to be agents of change on God's behalf throughout the world by building strong families and communities and sharing the value and life-changing abilities of the Gospel.
OUR CHURCH
The Body of Christ, Inc. (TBOC), is a non-denominational, multi-generational family of men, women, and children, who under the leadership of Chief Apostle H.C. Gunn strive to live transformational lives by following the living word and living will God.
The Church focuses on embracing and empowering its members to help them get to know God, know his plan for their lives, and know how to live a life that uplifts others and draws them closer to their destiny in Christ Jesus.
Through weekly praise and worship, teaching, prayer services, blog posts, radio broadcasts, and personal experiences members are equipped with the tools needed to commit to living life at its fullest, according to God’s promise and design.
Members of the TBOC family are taught that just as a physical body, its takes diverse, willing and faithful “members” to make a spiritual body work. For it is our membership in a spiritual body (the church family) that allows us to truly experience the power of fellowship with God and his people.
Located in Blountstown, Florida (near Leon, Gadsden, and Liberty counties), the church is named in honor of the words of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 12, which teaches us of God’s intent that we live and work together as one, in order to fulfill his calling upon our lives and plan for this nation and world.
