5 Seconds (Resist)

James 1:14-15: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

What are you going to do in those five seconds? Temptation doesn’t become sin unless we act on it, or we fall into that temptation and when I say that I mean we give into the temptation.

Jesus was tempted, but he didn’t act on that temptation because Jesus never sinned. When we are faced with temptation, we need to think: How am I going to react/respond to this?

1 Corinthians 10:13: No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Whatever we are tempted by its nothing we can’t overcome. So, we already know we won’t be tempted by anything we can’t bear, we also know that God gave us the ability to overcome that temptation, and that there is a way of escape. But, within those five seconds pray and resist the temptation. Some may be harder than others, but remember temptation can lead to sin unless you resist!
