Don't Be Afraid to Separate from Others to Draw Closer to God

Hi, my name is Amaya Stewart. I am the youth choir director and the youth pastor at my local church. This is my first blog, and I pray there are many more to come and that we can grow together through this blog.
I am 17 years old. I'm a teenager trying to live right and serve God. At this time, I will be talking about friendships.
Being saved and having friendships can be extremely hard as a teen. You might be serious about serving God, but your friends aren't. Your friends could be trying to convince you to do something knowing you are saved. You must separate yourself. You might not have many friends or any friends at all, but it's okay.
Serving God is more important than friendships. Yes, you could have people you may casually talk to and you can be friendly and kind to people; but be careful who you surround yourself with. God could have a friend for you. You never know!
Don't feel discouraged if you lost friends because you told them you were saved. Surround yourself with people who are trying to serve God and people who will encourage you and help you with your walk to God.
Sincerely,
Pastor Amaya
