For Someone Else

Pastor Amaya Stewart

2/3/2023

Today, I was talking to my Pastor and my Pop Pop, Chief Apostle H.C. Gunn. He said something to me that really caused me to look at things differently. He said, “you don’t just go through or deal with things just because, but it’s to help someone else.”

We don’t think about how what we may face is setting us up to be a witness for someone else. We all have experienced different things and, most of the time, we witness (or should be witnessing) to someone else about what we went through or what we did. Especially, when we see someone going through the same things.

In the television show, The Chosen, about how the life of Jesus and the disciples could have possibly been, one of the actors who plays Little James, one of the 12, has a disability. So, they wrote it into his character that he had to use a stick to help him walk. In the show, people asked why James was not healed even though he was a disciple. The show explained it this way: We all know Jesus could have healed James when he wanted to, but they wanted to show that James could be a witness and an example to others that whether God healed him or not, or performed a miracle or not, he still believed in him for who he was (not just what he could do). And through the power of Jesus, James could still help others to be healed with joy and be patient for his healing at the same time.

We don’t know who will come after us that God has sent us to be a witness to! God didn’t create just you in this world, he created a whole human race, and if we don’t witness how can we help others know the truth? What you are going through is not in vain and God is using you to be able to be a witness to help someone else!
