Psalm 37
3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
4 Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
Look at the first word in each verse. Trust, Delight, Commit, Rest in the Lord.
-Trust means having a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. Synonym (faith)
-Delight means to please (someone) greatly.
-Commit means to obligate or pledge oneself
-Rest means peace of mind or spirit or freedom from activity or labor.
These words are very important, and sometimes we have to break down what we are reading to have a better understanding. These words are actions we should be doing in God. Are we trusting in God? Are we delighting in God? Are we committed to God? Are we rested in God?
These words are a part of abiding in Jesus. When we abide in God, he will abide in us, and when he abides in us, we get the characteristics of Jesus. These words will help you see are you abiding in God? It can also help you see if you're trying to abide in God, or if you don’t try to abide in God. We have to be willing to give up ourselves for God. We can learn how to trust, delight, commit, and rest in God.
God sees our efforts, and he will reward us for it. God rewards his children when he sees we are trying, being obedient, etc. We should also reward God through our actions, choosing to be obedient to him, etc.
