Hosea 11:9-10
I will not execute the fierceness of My anger;
I will not again destroy Ephraim.
For I am God, and not man,
The Holy One in your midst;
And I will not [a]come with terror.
They shall walk after the Lord.
He will roar like a lion.
When He roars,
Then His sons shall come trembling from the west;
For I am God, and not man, the Holy One in your midst.
God is not like man, mankind will execute our anger, we will not forgive, we will not show grace, we will not love one another as we should, etc. But God doesn’t do that. God called man out in this verse, and God is acting the opposite of how we would act. God is holy and just. We have to strive to be holy and just.
Isaiah 55:8-9
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Man doesn’t act like God, because we are stuck in our own flesh, thoughts, and ways. God is above that, so he acts differently than how we would act or respond. We can be holy by not trying to do things our way or go based off of our thoughts. God keeps saying abide. And he revealed to me a place where he is trying to get me to abide in him even more.
The thing about God is he knows that we will make mistakes, but when we want to do better and when he sees we are trying to do better and serve him, God will help us. For example, you have struggled in math your whole life and you maintain a D average in math. You maintain that grade because you're not studying or putting forth the effort to try. God can’t help us, if we don’t do our part and try. We have to sit back and ask God to show us where we need to work on our abiding.
Now, that we are trying, God can help us so we can get A’s across the board. I want my spiritual and physical report card to be straight A’s. But, we have to try and work hard to get those A’s. God knows everyone doesn’t learn everything at the same pace, but in our trying God will be there to help us. When God is helping us and when we are abiding in him that’s how we can react how God would react.
We all can do it because we are his children, so it’s in us, but we've got to take the word and ABIDE!! The Holy Ghost can also help us to abide too. Don’t give up, keep trying, God is helping you!!
