This is Our Testimony: A Choice of Commitment

Pastor Amaya Stewart

John 14:16: And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever.

John 14:26: But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

On this youth blog, I will be doing something a little different. My sisters, Alexandria (Ally) and Jennifer (Jenny), just recently received the Holy Ghost! I want to feature them on this blog, so they can share their testimonies and be a witness to other people!

From Ally:
Receiving the Holy Ghost is one of the best decisions you could make in life. If you are committed to God, this is something that you should want to do. Like it says in John 14:26, the Holy Ghost helps guide us; it also reinforces the things that God has said. Since I made the decision to fully commit to God, I knew I needed the Holy Spirit.

One morning when I was staying at my Aunties’ house, we were having Bible study together. I don’t remember the exact verses we were studying, but it was about the Comforter. While talking about this, my Auntie said that it was my time, and I knew it was too. So at midnight on May 27, we got together and started praying. She had no plan of what to do next, but she heard Jesus say, “Call my name.” I was nervous at first because it’s been so long, but we started to call His name.

At first, I wasn’t focused on the right things. I let thoughts come in and I was worried about how I sounded and whether I would throw up or not because I really did not want to. But I eventually changed my focus solely on Him and continued to call Him. And after about 20-30 minutes, the Lord said that we had been filled. I'm really glad that I made this decision! And I also wanted to say thank you again to Pastor Amaya and Auntie/Apostle Angel!!!

From Jenny:
When we were having Bible study my Auntie (Apostle Angel) was talking to us about the Holy Spirit and she asked us did we want to get filled, I said, "yes," but I'm not going to lie: I was nervous. It was a busy day that day, therefore, we didn't do it immediately. So, the whole day I was anxious. Every time Auntie called my name: my heart would drop to my stomach -- crazy, I know right. So, then the time came for us to get filled. I can't even express how scared I was.

At first, Auntie Angel didn’t know exactly what we were going to do, she was waiting on God, so she just told us to repeat after her, so we did. And when we were done with that, she said that the Lord said, “Call my name.” We got to going, calling on his name, and my mind was going to everything else, but I was trying so hard to focus on just calling on Jesus.

I was thinking to myself distractions before we even started, “what if I throw up, Lord please don’t let me throw up. “ and I threw up, but I realize I was just getting delivered. It had to be like 30 minutes later and Auntie Angel sat us down and asked us how we felt.... I lied and said I was fine, but really, I let envy come in. I was worried that Ally started speaking in tongues first, instead of me focusing on the Lord. But Auntie told me that it didn’t matter, because if I had faith that God filled me with the Holy Ghost, then I was filled. And I believe that I can live today to say I am filled with the Holy Ghost, and I am proud to say it too!!!
