Let God (In His Word)

This week on For Real Radio Broadcast Chief Apostle H.C. Gunn started the message off with these words: "as you feed your spirit, the spirit of the living God is strengthened so that you can know how to please God, how to abide, how to walk, walk in wisdom, have understanding, know what being blessed is, and how to be a blessing."

Without the Holy Spirit this statement shows us that you cannot really please God, you won't know what being blessed is, and therefore you will be unable to bless others. It means without God we have no direction. We are being called to Let God (In His Word). Chief Apostle expounds upon this more as he reads 1 John Chapter 2, which states:

1. My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

A clear and straight forward message to the church, to us as saints that says, "don't sin." However, God knowing that we will fail at times made a way out. He's saying to us that although sin puts us on trial, I have given you an "advocate...Jesus Christ the righteous." Chief then encouraged listeners not to give up. So, if you're at that point in your life where you are feeling the lowest because of life circumstances or mistakes you have made due to sin, know that Jesus has paved the way. Trust Him and he'll see you through as illustrated in 1 John 2:

2. And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

The messenger warns listeners to "take heed to the word of God that he is sending through his anointed people this year and today, and at this time, and tomorrow, and whether or not you're in church" (that particular day). The point being made is to: Listen Now. As an anointed vessel of God himself, Chief Apostle encouraged listeners that God's anointed are trying to get saints to "grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ."

He said that "when you pay attention to the word of God, you stay under his divine favor, but if you ignore the word of God ... you go under his chastisement, his correction."God is just and as we can see in verse 2 of 1 John he became what the word calls the propitiation for our sins". Jesus became the payment, but not for us alone, but for all of humanity. What a wonderful Saviour we have in Jesus such that he gave himself, gave his life for us knowing that we wouldn't always do right by him. Even now he breathes out encouragement through preachers like Chief Apostle H.C. Gunn who will speak what thus says the Lord.

So many care little for preachers. The word shows us that the preached word of God is as foolishness to most academics and learned people of the world. Yet with all of our logic and wisdom, little has been done to solve some of the most difficult issues of life. The answer to those difficulties, our true help comes from that same preached word. It's the word that breathes out that which we all need, and it's Jesus. As the broadcast continued, we are lead to verse 3 and 4 in 1 John 2, which states:

3. And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

4. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Do you have Jesus in your life? And, if you are saved, do you keep Jesus daily? As Chief Apostle put it, to keep the word of God "we must be mindful of his word." As the word clearly states, if you don't keep his commandments, if you don't follow his instructions then you are a liar. So, this message is encouraging us to be mindful, to make a conscious decision to follow, to choose Jesus at all times. Your life must speak Jesus in how you live daily, how you treat others, what you say and do, and how you handle even trouble when it comes. Otherwise, you are considered a liar in the sight of God.

Keeping the commandments of God often comes at a great personal sacrifice to the one called, and often times in today's churches it creates a mass exodus when the truth is preached. Nevertheless, Chief Apostle charged ministers to be honest with the word which God gives them to speak. He said that: "If God calls you to it, stay faithful and don't move off of it even if a spouse, congregation, friends or family walk away." No matter the earthly consequences faced he said "walking away from what God called you to do is far worse" than others walking away from you.

As 1 John 2 verse 5 put it:

5. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

Here is the evidence that you are in Jesus: When the love of God is perfected in you by you keeping his word. Not moving off of the truth and standing for righteousness no matter the consequence takes courage. It takes fully trusting in Jesus. As the messenger tells us "the Holy Ghost teaches us away from sin." So, once again Jesus shows us he is our advocate and the way to overcome sin, to overcome ourselves and how we usually do things. The messages drive the point home that it's not the size of our homes, education, or bank accounts that is success. As the messenger stated, "true success and prosperity are keeping the word of God."

Jesus loves us so much that he is even addressing and sending correction, as 1 John 2:9 states:

9. He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.

Hatred towards your brother while saying you walk in the light is a blatant lie. The word says that if you do this then you are in darkness even at this very moment. The broadcast even went as far as to call out where some saints to this day are still angry with dead loved ones over what happened, what they said, what they did. The light says such actions are darkness. We have to forgive, and look at our goals when it comes to the kingdom of God.

The messenger asked the question: How many spiritual pounds do you need to lose? Yet the word has already said "lay aside every weight and sin." He said you can't lay aside someone else's sin, you have to lay aside your own. So, if you don't want to be poor, blind, or naked because of the wages of sin then keep the word of God.

Check your motives, your walk, your plan for God this year. Ask him to help you in serving him like never before. You can start when you Let God (In His Word).
