At All Times
The blog team is back! Thank you for your patience. In everything, we learn lessons to help us draw even closer to Christ. When various issues of life happen, we are challenged to see how dedicated and consistent we will be even in the midst of what we may face. As our pastor, Chief Apostle H.C. Gunn, recently reminded us: The devil is defeated by our dedication to God and our dedication to the things of God.
Yes, it has been a busy and unprecedented time for all of us recently. Yes, unexpected life changes have happened. But, as I look back, there are times -- even in the midst of my busyness and unplanned events --- that I personally could have persevered to ensure that our church blog stayed more up-to-date, so for that, I apologize to God first and second to you our church family and website viewers.
No matter what, God always has TIME for us, so we must freely make time for him and what he has assigned us to do, inspired us to do, required of us, or given us the talents, strength, and resources to accomplish in the earth. This brings me to the theme of today's message from FORREAL RADIO BROADCAST with Chief Apostle Gunn: "At All Times." In the message, Chief highlighted the scripture: Psalm 34:1 KJV. The verse reads: "I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth."
There are some keywords here we need to pay attention to: "all" and "continually." No matter what David, the writer of this passage, faced, we find when reading the Book of Psalms that David made it a point to ensure he acknowledged God, was thankful to God, prayed to God, praised God, sought God and testified of God continually (at all times).
David was committed to being consistent with spending time with God and doing things that pleased God. He wanted to bless God with not just what came out of his mouth, but also what came out of his life --- at all times. Even after he sinned before God, David repented and returned to his highest level of service --- not letting anything interrupt his relationship with God and the vows he made to God. David valued his time with God and valued God's time with him. Chief Apostle said during the broadcast that God was talking about time. He has been talking about redeeming the time. Ephesians 5:15–16 KJV says: “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” It's time for us (including myself) to use our time wisely to ensure that we are living a ready-life, which means we are living day-to-day in a way that pleases God at all times and prepares us for the day of Christ's visitation and his return for us. The best way to ensure our time on earth is well-spent and can be accounted to God is to ensure we are blessing him at all times, to ensure we are seeking him at all times, to ensure we are praying and talking to him at all times, to ensure we are hoping, loving, forgiving and caring at all times. We also must ensure we are not letting hurt and grudges block our hearts, so we can be open to him at all times. This also means we are listening and doing the word at all times, not just choosing to accept what word makes us feel good and only listening to or doing that, but instead taking in all that God has given in his word or through his messenger at all times - whether in the Bible or through his Rhema (living, spoken) word. When we aren't staying focused on God and committed to God at all times we can miss opportunities and we can miss our time of deliverance, our time of breakthrough. At all times, just like a 24-hour diner or store, we must be open to receive God, to welcome him, to serve him, uplift him and to do the same for the men and women of God with consistent joy and gladness. When we aren't spending our time adoring God, waiting on God and going after him in his word, being grateful to God, being hopeful and expectant in God and looking up to God, then we are giving place to the devil and leaving from under his covering, his plan of salvation, his presence. It's time for us to lay down our lives for him and give him our time freely, give him our gratitude and worship freely, give him our day, give him our finances, give him our families, give him are jobs, plans and dreams, give him our praise, give him everything. By giving him our time always -- and in all ways -- then we invite him in to deliver us (even from our worst addictions) and create the opportunities we need for our lives to be changed and be made ready to be with him for eternity.
