Can God Find You?
I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.
Psalm 119:76
And he spake this parable unto them, saying, What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
Luke 15:3-7
For the last few weeks, Chief Apostle HC Gunn has been sharing on the FORREAL Radio Broadcast two messages that ask: "Can God Find You?" You can listen to them by clicking here: Part 1 and Part 2.
Something that really hit home for me was when he said: When the Shepherd goes looking for you as his lost sheep can he hear your bah, bah? In other words, can he hear your heart cry, your soul cry, the cry of desperation, dependency and repentance in your voice and in your heart?
Now, when you read the scriptures I posted above, you may easily think the lost sheep or the strayed sheep is just someone who never has been saved, someone who has never taken time to hear the word of God or have a relationship with him. Yes, God wants to save and rescue those lost sheep who are unsaved or uncommitted to him. But you can also be a lost sheep when you have already been saved and in your walk you have failed God, backslidden, stopped believing, stopped caring, stopped praying, broken your vows, disobeyed his word or commandments, gotten weary or started to conform to the world.
I have been saved about 15 years and as of this morning, I have found myself crying out to God to find me where I am lost. I see many areas where I am not as dedicated as I should be, not as close as I should be, not has focused on him or obedient as I should be. I see where I am not loving enough and where I have allowed my mind and heart to be drawn away.
But what Chief Apostle spoke during the broadcasts has always been right before our eyes, however it is on us to truly receive it and run after it: God will never leave us or forsake us. He desires that none be lost. He is always willing to go find the one that is missing.
So, since God never leaves us or forsakes us --- we have to ask ourselves: Where have I forsaken God? Where did I runaway? Where did I hide? Where did I stop following directions and cause myself to get lost?
How have we entangled ourselves in the thickets of life? It is not always outward sin that entangles us. You may never drink, smoke, commit a crime, participate in sexual immorally or say a curse word. You may be the person who is in church every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. The person that pays their tithes faithfully. But if in your heart and in your mind you have rejected God in any way, then you are that lost sheep that has gotten itself stuck in the bushes of life, where you may not be easily seen for a rescue because you have gone in too deep.
For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 2 Peter 2:20
But there is hope!
God doesn't quit on us unless we quit on him! Chief Apostle said: The Lord is the father in the story of the prodigal son. His arms are wide open. And when he gets just a glimpse of us trying to find our way back home to him, he runs to us with joy - ready to receive us again into the fold.
No matter if you have never given your life to Christ or have found your relationship with the Lord to be broken, God is looking for you. He has sent his son Jesus and his Holy Spirit to find you and recover you. And yes, you can recover! He recovered Paul! He recovered Moses! He recovered David!
Even after Adam and Even sinned against God, he came looking for them? But they chose to hide themselves from him. And hide the truth in their hearts. They never repented. They only pointed fingers. We need to do everything we can to ensure God sees us and hears us when he comes to look for us. And that starts with true repentance and sincerely crying out to him in prayer.
And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. Genesis 3:8
Can God Find You? There is no sin, failure, or habit too hard for God to forgive or deliver you from. We just have to be willing to ask for his help, his forgiveness and sincerely repent and return to him.
We've got to cast of those thickets!!!
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Hebrews 12:1.
In closing, I encourage you to listen to the broadcasts Part 1 and Part 2 and let the messages transform your mind, your heart, your soul and your body. I know I need this word to transform me because my life depends on it. I no longer want to be that lost sheep. i want to be in the fold, always!!!
I also, want to leave you with these lyrics by Fred Hammond for the song "Don't Pass Me By." They speak to the heart of what Chief Apostle is trying to get us to see in the teaching.
There was a blind man on the road side, and he heard a commotion yeah It was Jesus passing by with a crowd and it stirred his emotions He'd been displaced his whole life, should he even try
Don't bother Jesus (they say you have nothing) You have nothing to offer (stay in your place) Right then he knew(he had to choose) He had nothing to lose
So he cried Jesus(Jesus), I need you, (yeah ah) please don't pass me by He cried out Jesus, I'm not ashamed(to tell you) I need you in my life (I need you in my life yeah)
I'm not much different from that man, and this is the honest truth Could this sinful one, with this messed up life, could I ever serve you (Oh oh oh oh)people and things clutter my mind, should I even try
Don't bother Jesus (they say you have nothing) You have nothing to offer (stay in your place) Right then he knew(he had to choose) He had nothing to lose
So I cry Jesus(Jesus), I need you Please don't pass me by I'm crying out Jesus, I'm not ashamed to tell you I need you in my life
As the deer (as the deer panted) Thirsty for the water yeah(thirsty for the water) My soul desires and longs to be(to be with you)
Jesus, I need you, please don't pass me by I don't mean to waste your time but I can't listen to the crowd, Situations in my life telling me to keep it down But I need you
I know I'm broken, but you can heal me, Jesus, Jesus I'm calling you (I might not be worth much)might not be worth much, but I'm still willing Jesus, Jesus, I'm calling you
