A Saved Life: The Watch Letter

Hallelujah! At The Body of Christ, Inc., several teens have been getting saved or rededicating their lives to Christ over the last several weeks.

The children are students at a local Gadsden County school—or relatives of those students—who have seen the witness of their teacher, Mrs. Josey (you know her as Apostle Tee here on The Watch Letter). Because of the love of God she has shown them, they have chosen to attend church with her on Sundays.

This moment is part of the fulfillment of a prophetic Word the Lord gave our pastor and his prophet, Chief Apostle H.C. Gunn, a few years ago that there would be a revival of youth, that this generation would be "lit" up for the Lord, and that souls were coming in our midst in need of salvation. Just the other week, God told Chief Apostle Gunn that Heaven is making a comeback. So often we hear people talk about fashion, beauty, and entertainment trends making a comeback, but God is showing us that Heaven is what's happening and never goes out of style, and young people are starting to take notice—we should all take notice.

After hearing the Word of God preached in truth and spirit, these students are choosing salvation with great joy and willingness. It did not take watering the Word down or making it fit into today's "ratchet culture" to convince them they needed to come to God.

"And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. " - John 12:32

"I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee." - Jeremiah 31:3

Chief Apostle Gunn has helped us to see that being saved is more than a one-time confession and repentance, and its more than just choosing to believe God is real, and that the sacrifice of his Son for our sins is real. These are of course the important first steps, but to continue the journey, we have to be careful that we don't just become confessors, believers, or repenters because we will be missing a key part of God's plan of salvation—to bring us back to eternal life and relationship with Him. Without being in an eternal-minded relationship with him, it will be hard to maintain the salvation we accepted and move past the first steps we took toward him.

When young people, or anyone for that matter, choose salvation, everyone and everything will attempt to downplay or minimize their salvation and God's expectations of us. But it's the Word of God, both written and preached, that shows us what it means to choose a saved life/lifestyle.

To help us all remember what it means to be saved, here are some notes from what Chief Apostle Gunn taught us months ago about how being saved is a daily choice.

He said it was a choice of:

  • Practicing the awareness of God and learning to wait on him

  • Giving thought to God and being concerned about what he thinks, what he needs from you, and how he feels.

  • Seeking God first, and prioritizing him -- not holding people and things as idols.

  • Setting yourself, your eyes, and your affection toward God and taking time out to fellowship with him daily.

  • Choosing not to give yourself to the world or anything in it but giving your love and yourself to God above all else.

  • Yielding your ways, plans, desires, feelings, and thoughts to God and consulting him in your decisions instead of your flesh or the world.

  • Glorifying him in all you say, think, and do.

  • Answering the call to stay separate from sin and the things of this world and united with God.

  • Denying self-will for God's will and believing his will is the best thing for you.

These are just some commitments we can make in our walk with God and the Bible tells us much more.

Chief Apostle Gunn always tells those who are newly saved to ensure they read the Word to strengthen them, and he says to start in the book of Matthew. It introduces us to the Savior and what he wants us to know about being in a relationship with him.

Matthew 7 says:

21 Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
