God Moves

Genesis 1:2

And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

The void, darkness, and waters in this scripture remind me of what it feels like to be uncertain, confused, wavering to and fro, troubled, restless, driven by our emotions, doubtful, and aimless.

But more powerful than these feelings and circumstances is the second part of the verse. It demonstrates how God moves above all those things. He moved upon the shadows and the waves, showing us that God focuses on the end result—transformation—not what it feels like to be in transition.

Throughout his word, this is what he tries to get us to see, but like our Pastor Chief Apostle H.C. Gunn, told me the other day, we don't know the covenant and promise we have with God because we won't read the word and talk to him about what he has written.

God moved by his spirit anyhow amid the chaos to speak the earth in all its glory into existence. This verse is teaching us that we too can speak and move in faith despite what we see, face, or feel.

This scripture also ties right into a message I would like to rewind back to from June 30, 2022, that Chief Apostle Gunn taught.

He said people move off of feelings, emotions, and what they face, which is our flesh. But God moves off of faith. (Think about it: Nothing changes when we make moves by the flesh, but everything changes when we move, live, and decide by faith in God.)

So often, in today's twisted culture, everyone is talking about and celebrating how they made "major moves" in their career, education, relationships, where they live, what they drive, income, etc. But those moves don't matter if they aren't part of God's move, so they might just be "flesh moves."

 John 1:3

All things were made by him, and without him was not anything made that was made.

Chief Apostle Gunn also said during that message that choosing to really be involved with God is how we can learn to stop moving by the flesh.

He said we have to get to a place where we involve God in our lives consistently, not just when something happens. (When you’re “involved” with someone, it means you are committed to them, close to them, and actively engaged with them.)

Chief Apostle Gunn said when we involve God with our emotions, feelings, and circumstances through prayer and talking things through with him, he will show us how to respond, how to believe, how to think, and how not to let feelings lead us in his place.

When we are involved with him continuously, we will operate under his influence, which is faith, instead of under the influence of our flesh, which is the playground and train station of the devil, and his demons and devices.

Move with God.
