Gremlins: The Watch Letter
In the 1990s, a horror movie, under the facade of a dark comedy, called Gremlins was very popular. It starts with a cute Christmas toy pet that "accidentally" reproduces murderous and mean-spirited monsters. And years later, those gremlin characters were reproduced into toys that children around the world collected and were obsessed with called Furbies.
Gremlin is a word used to describe mischievous damage. Throughout history, a gremlin was known to appear to bring joy by its appearance but it transforms into a disastrous demon. Just imagine how much that spirit has been transferred into peoples homes just through "fun and entertainment."
I haven't seen or thought of this movie in decades, but the Lord brought it to mind after hearing an older broadcast message by Chief Apostle H.C. Gunn (available here), where he was talking about how who we are and what we do reproduces itself. He shared how in Genesis 1 the earth was formed in a way that everything in it reproduces after its kind. So, whatever we produce on the earth -- whether good or bad -- reproduces.
So, just like those gremlins, we may think what we are doing appears to be sweet or innocent, or godly, but what is behind the scenes? What is the spirit behind what we are doing, saying, and how we are planning and operating? Is it wickedness and mischief? And is that wickedness and mischief reproducing in our homes, in our children, and the atmosphere around us, even in our church?
What kind of gremlins are you reproducing in your life?
It reminds me of family reunions. On the outside, they look sweet, fun and innocent but often at those reunions the older men or older women get drunk and end up doing unclean things or even molesting other relatives and children there. It may sound graphic, but it's true. I remember a Tyler Perry movie showing it right in the open. People thought it was funny, but it was a subliminal message that he helped put into the minds of others. An older man watched a younger cousin or niece walk as she had on short shorts and lusted (consumed by desire) after her when she bent over to get a drink. What are we using to disguise our lust (the things we desire more than God and doing what is right)? What are we trying to make into a joke or something funny, when all along we have a perverted mindset behind it? That perversion and alcoholism at the family reunion could be what reproduces a spirit of rape, abuse, and incest in a family. The fact that most family reunions promote unity and going to a church service together is a facade the enemy uses to destroy generations.
What are the things we are doing that we try to convince others are innocent, fun, or harmless that are reproducing rotten and degenerate fruit all around us? What happens to our ill thoughts, disrespect, disregard, manipulation, hatred, selfishness, addictions, immorality, promiscuity, greed, pride, rebellion, stinginess, and materialism? It reproduces in our children and grandchildren and for generations to come, without surrender to Jesus and even with that surrender we are leaving our seeds to fight battles in their lives they shouldn't have had to fight.
The thing about those gremlins we are allowing the devil to produce and reproduce in us is they will later turn on you and attack you. We will be tortured or taunted by the wicked things we sow and allow to bear fruit in our lives.
Even when we cloak or cover up what we or others do such as what our children do, what our spouse does, friends do or someone in our family or network, we are allowing the mischief to reproduce in darkness.
And, just in case we think no one can tell that we are reproducing gremlins in our lives and our families, Chief Apostle Gunn also said on that broadcast that our sin and lifestyle have an odor. So, we can keep presenting things as nice and good, but the putrid odor behind us tells it all.
The devil is the originator of appearing to be good, helpful, or innocent and then introducing sin and evil into a situation and showing others how to reproduce that sin and evil. Remember Adam and Eve. So, if we find ourselves being beguiling then does that make us an agent of the devil instead of an agent of God?
2 Corinthians 11
3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
P.S. Don't forget about the gremlins being reproduced in our lives and our children's lives by things being played, watched, and listened to and the people we/they are entertaining.
Also, if you don't have the Holy spirit, if you are not saved in a sold out way and if you have not allowed God to deliver you from past conduct, past experiences and past relationships, do this NOW! If you are not listening to counsel from your pastor as you should, change this NOW! I have been able to be set FREE from things that happened to me or I participated in as a child or teen/young adult recently and you really don't know how your decisions, thinking and even body are operating by unclean things reproduced in your life. You can't be free without Jesus, the Holy spirit and being taught and counseled by an anointed and appointed leader. DO IT NOW or these things reproduced in you will be reproduced in others. If you don't care enough about yourself to get delivered think about the one's coming after you.
