I MEAN WHAT I SAY (TRUST ME)

Earlier this week, God placed upon my heart to title this blog post "I MEAN WHAT I SAY."

These are the words our pastor Chief Apostle HC Gunn told us the Lord gave us during a recent service after the choir sung the following song by Richard Smallwood:

Trust Me

I will be with you

I will be with you

I will be with you

If you will only trust Me

Trust Me, trust Me

I'll never leave you

I'll never leave you

I'll never leave you

If you will only trust Me

Trust Me, trust Me

I'll fight your battle

I'll fight your battle

I'll fight your battle

If you will only trust Me

Trust Me, trust Me

As our pastor's wife and companion in the work of the ministry, Apostle Felicia Gunn, always says: The Lord does not waste words. If he says it. He means it.

God keeps reminding us through this song about his "if and then" promise. In English classes, we have learned about "If/Then Statements." These statements express one thing contingent on something else. Throughout the Bible, God says to his people: if you do this, then I will do that. Meaning he is making an agreement/covenant/promise with us. In the case of this song, God is saying if you trust me: "I will stay with you, I won't leave you and I will fight for you!." Our lack of trust evicts God from our lives. He is a God of free will and he does not force himself on us. He wants us to receive him willingly. Our trust is a key that unlocks the door to God's promises or the lack of it can lock us out of God's promises.

God's presence in our lives is often activated by our trust in him. Yes, he is omnipresent and can be anywhere and everywhere at the same time, but his "I will get involved in every aspect of your life" presence is activated by the invitation of our trust. The song above is God's heart cry. He is begging and pleading with us to trust him, so he can show up for us in ways we have never imagined. As Chief Apostle Gunn said the other night in service, "God wants to blow our minds."

As I am writing this, God has now brought up this song, "He's Able" by Darwin Hobbs.

Exceedingly, Abundantly

Above all, all you could ask or think

According to, the power

That worketh in you, you…

God is able to do just what he said he would do

He’s gonna fulfill every promise to you

Don’t give up on god, cause he won’t give up on you

He’s able

God is able to do everything we need done and then some, but it's according to the power in us that is willing to trust him -- no matter what!

As Chief always says, and the word reminds us, it's important that we preach the same thing that there is no division. Youth Pastor Amaya's blog was written around the same time this blog was being put together. We did not know what each other was going to write. Because of this accord and power of her message, I am posting her post in my post, but please click on the link below to read the full post and make a comment of encouragement to her.

From Pastor Amaya:

"A Prayer of Trust"

The Lord said, “Trust me.”

God, I put my trust in You. Make me into Your image and help me trust you with my life. Show me how to improve my walk of faith. Anchor my trust in You, Lord, so that it never wavers. No matter what I may

battle, I will trust you. You know way more than I know God, so help me to be obedient to you and to never

doubt what you say. Lord, I want to be rooted and grounded in you with trust. Amen.

If you want to be an encouragement to our pastor, who has taught us the power of trust by his ministry and most of all his everyday walk, please sow a seed here: https://www.thebodyofchristinc.com/donate.
