No peace for the WICKED - The Watch Letter
As I write this post, search engines report that about 1.4 million people are talking about the word “Wicked” online at this very moment. It’s the name of a film now considered one of the top movies and breaking records. But while the film is grossing millions of dollars globally especially as young people and families watch, millions may also be being deceived about the truth of wickedness.
People are being fooled into thinking that because of what you go through in life or what struggles you witness others face, your solution or solace is becoming wicked. The film promotes that feelings of isolation, struggles with self-acceptance, trauma and more are justifications for rebellion. When instead God tells us that we can be delivered from our past and he can give us new life -- we don’t have to finish the way we started.
According to the word, “Wicked” is a device of deception from the enemy playing on the weaknesses of today’s young generation. Researchers are saying 73 percent struggle with loneliness, feelings of inadequacy, low levels of resilience, depression, substance abuse, and more because they are “hyperconnected” through the internet, cell phones, video games, and digital outlets, but disconnected from family, reality, community, and humanity. The movie falsely leads people into thinking wickedness is a way to overcome these things or feel "seen."
I had no plans to write about this but I kept being led back to Isaiah 57 today when reading the Bible. And this verse kept standing out: “There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.”
As I was reading, my husband mentioned separately how our Pastor Chief Apostle Gunn told us months ago that God told him to call this generation “Lit.” Why? God's plan and desire for this generation is to rise above darkness and to shine bright in the world, igniting a path back to him and bringing his light to others. So, it makes sense why the devil is using Hollywood, social media, music, and “culture” to draw them in the opposite direction and get them to accept wickedness and dark-heartedness as a form of empowerment when in truth the only sustained empowerment can come from following and living for the Lord while abiding in his Holy Spirit.
Isaiah 57: 18-21 further says: I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.... peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the Lord; and I will heal him. But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.
God wants to heal our suffering, he wants us to be comforted, he wants to lead us where we have gone astray and restore our peace, and forgive our froward hearts, and our covetousness. He can take our brokenness and use it for our good and His glory. Our suffering does not have to become the broom that transports us to wickedness.
Wicked is defined as purposeful intent -- to be unholy and evil, to sin and harm, to be immoral and godless, to be profane and hateful, to be corrupt and sinister, to be crooked and impure, to be mischievous and roguishness, to be dishonest and delinquent, etc.
A message from Chief Apostle Gunn on August 25, 2024, underscores that our sorrows and frustrations can turn into victory and strength when we turn to God instead of turning to wickedness.
When you’re feeling small or like you don’t matter he said to remember that no matter how small you start you can let God raise you up.
When you are going through a rough time, he said to remember that to shine you have to be polished.
When you want to be delivered from worry and fear, he said to remember Jesus said: pay attention to the word of God for help.
When you’re feeling unmotivated, he said to remember that the thing you don't want to do or don’t think you can do, could be the very thing God made you good at.
When you don’t like what you see or what you're facing, he said remember: don’t draw back or quit, it doesn’t have to look good to be good. Just wait for God to make it good.

Join me in praying for our pastor, his ministry, and his continued impact as a faithful servant of God. November 28 made 45 years since Chief Apostle Gunn answered his calling to the Lord and he continues to fulfill it since 1979. What a blessing and testimony!
