Stay in Place
Ecclesiastes 10:4: If the spirit of the ruler rise up against thee, leave not thy place; for yielding pacifieth great offenses.
God has a way with words. When you think of the phrase “stay in place” you may first think it means to not move, to stay frozen where you are. But in Christ, there is not stagnation, yet there is still a way to be still and wait on him. This is why God's thoughts and ways are higher than ours. We will never be able to comprehend the depth of His knowledge. The funny thing is the best way to stay in place with God is to make three movements: to walk by faith, follow Jesus, and to bow your whole self at the Lord’s feet daily.
But we also must learn not to move by our emotions, pain, frustrations, circumstances, desires, habits, family ways, or when the enemy and the world try to entice us and come against us. Yes, God gives us the ability and power to do both: to move forward and stay in place at the same time - THAT'S HOW AMAZING HE IS. Nothing is too hard with his help!. Like our pastor says, we can ask the Holy Ghost to HELP US! He can help us to move closer to God and stay there while moving away from sin and evil.
The above scripture (Ecclesiastes 10:4) reminds me of a spirit our pastor taught us to come against, it's is called the Ruler Spirit or Superintendent of the Sky. This spirit is of the devil and works to control us and keep us in bondage in the atmosphere by releasing the wrong things and attempting to confuse and withhold various things sent by God and much more. But the Bible says the only way to be free of this spirit, is to stop being a slave to sin and the world and become a servant of Christ. For who the Son makes free is free indeed. That’s how we stay in place and stay under the covering.
So what is the covering? The answer is below.[[
Psalm 91
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
2
I will say[a] to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3
For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence.
4
He will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5
You will not fear the terror of the night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6
nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.
7
A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8
You will only look with your eyes
and see the recompense of the wicked.
9
Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place—
the Most High, who is my refuge[b]—
10
no evil shall be allowed to befall you,
no plague come near your tent.
11
For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12
On their hands they will bear you up,
lest you strike your foot against a stone.
13
You will tread on the lion and the adder;
the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.
14
“Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him;
I will protect him, because he knows my name.
15
When he calls to me, I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him and honor him.
16
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
This scripture reminds me of when COVID first hit, the safest way to avoid the virus was to shelter in place, to stay home, and only go where it was necessary. It's the same principle.
Until I met Chief Apostle HC Gunn, I never knew what staying under the covering was. I never knew what stays in place meant. I grew up in church, I was always at the church building doing some type of activity. But I was never taught how we are to stay connected to God. How we are to stay in communication with God. How we are to seek His face and will daily. And that’s why I thank God for our pastor Chief Apostle Gunn. He makes things so plain and he walks what he talks. He has taught us at our ministry how to stay in fellowship with The Lord. And how to say under his covering by our conduct, by our obedience, by our care, by our faith, through prayer, and by our giving. It’s a lifestyle. It’s not just sitting in a pew, memorizing scriptures and songs, shouting now and then, tithing when you feel like it, or testifying insincerely. Our whole lives must be lived in dedication to God.
Yesterday at service, Chief Apostle Gunn asked the questions: When was the last time we asked God what he wanted us to do today? What was his requirement and directive for our lives or how were we to impact the lives of others today?
Once, he taught me to pray: Lord, help me to meet your needs and make your dreams and vision come true.
Chief Apostle Gunn said earlier this week, we are to always be in service and operate in sincerity to the Lord.
So, how can we want God's protection, help, blessing, healing, provision, word of knowledge but not want to serve him, not want to inquire of him, and see what he needs from us?
Even the devil has to give an account to God (Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them - Job 1:6). So, what does that say about us if we aren’t meeting with him every day and reporting for duty? Like Chief said God is our boss. He is the real supervisor of our lives.
Chief Apostle recently said: Pay your Bills .... to God. What do we owe him? Although we can never repay him for his goodness, we can surrender all that we are, all that we have, and all our praise. It reminds me of Zacchaeus. He realized that being under the Lord's covering was more valuable than the riches he possessed. He got in place by literally climbing (moving) from where he was in life to meet the Lord and stay in place with Him.
Luke 19
1 And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.
2 And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.
3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.
4 And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.
5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for today I must abide at thy house.
6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.
8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
