The Way of Escape: Don't Miss Your Out - The Watch Letter
The Lord promised he'll provide a way of escape in our situation/struggle (1 Corinthians 10:13). That way of escape: sowing ourselves to the Lord.
In 2018, Chief Apostle H.C. Gunn preached a series: "Sow Your Way Out." As a Body, we did not grab hold to the escape provided in that word. But, today, we have another chance.
Part I of "Sow Your Way Out "
(Note: Chief Apostle Gunn said to share this with others. It's a Rhema word, serious, timeless, and miracles/deliverance tied to it.)
Scripture: 2 Kings 4
We must lay ourselves down to do his will. God wants us to participate in what he's doing.
God wants to break the back of poverty in our lives.
The solution is in the story of the Prophet and Apostle Elisha and a widowed woman.
There comes a day when it seems like you have lost so much. Ask God what to do. Don't go by opinions, and books, be instructed by God. Seek answers from him. Stop being lazy. Read God's word.
Whatever your vision/hope is: Sow your life. Sow to Jesus in prayer. Sow your marriage and family to God.
We want to succeed, but we don't want to sow ourselves. And that includes our wallet.
Our money touches everything we do, where we sleep/work, how we live, what we drive, how we eat, healthcare, and how we're educated. Sowing yourself includes sowing sacrificially to God and the household of faith.
2 Kings 4: A family was struggling. A widow told Elisha creditors were taking her sons into slavery because they didn't have the money.
When we bring problems to the prophet/pastor, we must be ready to follow instructions.
Elisha asked her what she had. She needed to participate in the miracle. He wouldn't have asked if God didn't show him she had something to offer. He was instructing her to use what she had access to, to sow her way out of the situation.
Often, when the prophet/pastor asks what we have in our hands, we put our heads down in the spirit, as if we have nothing to offer (even though we know we have resources).
Chief Apostle Gunn said, for example, it could be a social security check we know is coming, and we lie to God and his anointed by acting as if we know of nothing we can do. So, we walk away without our miracle, and it's our fault.
The Lord pointed out the Joseys and Lewises in our church body. They are sprouting and spouting up with blessings because they sow themselves and what they have to God and the man of God.
Many miracles go unperformed because we refuse to be honest with people sent to help us. We want to hold on to things, especially money, instead of getting help.
It's our choice if we want to be delivered. The widow wanted to be delivered, so she was honest about what she had. She had a jar of oil, and it opened the door for her deliverance.
We always say what we can't do. But, Elisha showed the woman although she had only a jar of oil, she had more she could do. She had to be willing to go beyond herself, and he instructed her to borrow some vessels from others. When it comes to obeying God: borrow not a few! We don't have to do the bare minimum. We must do our best.
If you're willing to be honest with God, you can borrow and stretch. Step outside of what you can do. Find a way to follow the instruction (Don't be like Acts 5:1-11)
God will step outside himself for us. We must do the same for him.
There are things we need our salary can't bring. God wants to meet our needs with a miracle. But we have to participate honestly.
The widow obeyed and presented what she had sincerely. She followed each instruction. The next step: he told her to shut her door to pour the little she had into the vessels she borrowed. When God gives you instructions you have to shut out doubt, fear, opinions, sin, nosiness, criticism.
Even if it doesn't make sense/logic, pour out anyway. That's where faith comes in. She poured and the oil overflowed in the vessels... now she could sell it to make money.
After the woman followed Elisha's instructions and didn't hold back on God, she was able to pay every debt. The back of poverty was broken for their family by the word of God.
Chief Apostle Gunn and his wife, Apostle Felicia, have seen the congregation have miracles go unperformed and seen the spirit of God grieved because people did not receive the word/instruction and did not respond and act.
Sometimes God speaks through the pulpit about what we're facing/suffering and we know it's on target. We know Chief Apostle Gunn had no way of knowing unless God gave it to him, but we won't speak up/respond. Another way the miracle goes unperformed.
Remember: it's not what we hear. It's how we take action on what we hear. Faith comes by hearing but we must be doers of the word.
The next step for the widow should have been to turn back to the prophet and bless him and pay her tithes. Let's not be found missing this step. Gratitude determines your latitude.
We spend thousands on hair/fashion and hundreds at the fair but only give God $1 and won't give to our leader, even though we know he does God's will.
We'd rather sit and die during offering time than show appreciation through giving. That is why the back of poverty goes unbroken.
We jump, we shout, but we don't act on the word. We want to be seniors in shouting but in pre-k in giving/performing God's word. We have a PH.D. in testifying but are in pre-k in our believing God.
