The Wedding: The Watch Letter

Today, we celebrate the wedding of Apostle Rahman Stewart and Sister Sheena Anderson. Congratulations to the Stewarts!!!! We pray that you experience and receive every ounce of the will of God and anointing God has for your marriage and family!

Our church, more specifically our Pastor Chief Apostle Gunn and his wife, Apostle Felicia Gunn (also Rahman's parents), are hosting the ceremony.

Thinking about the wedding and service we will have today reminded me of Matthew 22. Now, some of us in attendance will be at the wedding by default because it is hosted at our church and we are members of the church. But throughout the last week or so, Chief Apostle Gunn kept sending the saints reminders about the wedding service to make sure we were aware of the time. He sent out calls to pray for the marriage as well. Because its still a choose to participate and to be ready to come. And that feels like what God is getting our attention about. Are we really desiring to participate in the things and plan of God? In many cases, people will come to church for the wedding and looking their best but don't have the same enthusiasm when it comes to just coming to church to hear the word and participate in worship to God.

It reminded me of how the Lord continues to call out to us and urge us to pray and draw near to him so that we can be a church and a people ready to come into his kingdom and his holy, heavenly wedding banquet when the times come. We think that will be hundreds of years from now, but we never know when the hour of visitation will come. So, the questions today are: Will we be ready? Will we be on the invitation list?

Unlike the wedding taking place at church today, no one can enter into the Lord's kingdom and his heavenly feast by default. There are requirements. There are certain types of people who can only enter in. They must be found washed in the blood of the Lamb. They must have on garments of righteousness. They must have a clean and willing heart. They must have an obedient and willing heart-mind. Will we meet the requirements? Will we be able to hear the call to God's wedding feast? Or will we be distracted? Or will we be passed by? Or will we not want to go because of who is invited? Or will we ask God for more time because want to do something else first?

If we don't accept the invitation, God will have to move on and seek out those who are willing to come and will be willing to do as he requires in order to enter in. The passage below shows us that in order to make it into the wedding its got to be about whats on the inside of us, no matter how we appear to others, God sees it, and only those with humility, sincerity and willingness will be able to hear, see, notice, obey, and abide with God. It's time to clean up on the inside so we can be a guest worthy to have a seat at the table of the wedding feast of God.

Matthew 22

And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,

2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,

3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.

4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.

5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:

6 And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.

7 But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.

8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.

9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.

10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.

11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:

12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

14 For many are called, but few are chosen.
