Don’t let the devil take your hope away.
YOU CAN MAKE IT IF YOU TRY.
These words are from past messages from our Pastor, Chief Apostle H.C. Gunn, and God brought them up this week - loud and clear.
We only fail and are without hope when we don’t try.
Romans 8:35-39: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ....Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The Word of God documents what Chief Apostle has been urging us to see.
There is absolutely no person, no thing, no circumstance, no feeling, no distance, no battle, no persecution, no temptation, no disappointment, and no devil, demon, or device that can keep us from God’s love—which contains His perfect will, His plan of salvation, His power, His presence, and His provision.
But in this scripture, we see that everything the Apostle Paul was given to write by the Lord includes external factors.
So, there is only one who has the power to stop us, separate us, and shut us down—ourselves. Chief Apostle Gunn always reminds us that we are our own worst enemy. We do more damage to ourselves than the devil or someone else could ever do because he doesn't have that kind of power and access. But we have been given power to do all things through Christ.
Verse 37 says we are more than conquerors. The word "are" in this verse means to continuously be. God has placed within our existence and DNA, as an eternal covenant, the active ability to be overcomers—undefeated, unsubdued, unstoppable. But if we stop trying and we stop hoping, then we break the covenant. We have no power. We have no protection.
We take trying and hoping lightly. We throw around phrases like, "I will try to do better" or "I hope it gets better."
But are we really trying and hoping? Both of these require real and ongoing effort.
Are we really trying to be with God every day?
Are we really trying to care for others and be the family of God?
Are we really trying to work in unity?
Are we really trying to stop our ungodly patterns and habits?
Are we really trying to follow instruction and obey the Word?
Are we really trying to receive and maintain the Holy Spirit?
Are we really trying to have a moral, godly lifestyle?
Are we really trying to support the ministry?
Are we really trying to walk in our callings?
Are we really trying to lead and love in our homes?
Are we really trying to contribute where we are called to?
Are we really hoping in God’s promises and his Word?
Are we really hoping for our or someone’s deliverance and salvation?
Are we really hoping for our healing?
Are we really hoping for God’s miracles, signs, and wonders?
Are we really hoping for the best outcome as God has ordained?
Are we really hoping for the fulfillment of prophecy?
Are we really hoping for Jesus’s return, Heaven, and dwelling with God on the new earth?
The lists go on.
Chief Apostle Gunn once said that if you are living a life or doing something that God hasn’t assigned to you or designed for you, then get rid of it. He said that if you receive something in the mail that doesn’t belong to you, you either get rid of it or return it to the sender.
If we really want the life we are supposed to live in God and to have the mindset He gave us from the foundation of the world, then it’s time to start trying and hoping and get rid of what is holding us back.
We can start by stopping what we know we need to stop and starting what we know we need to start.
Last week, Chief Apostle Gunn taught that it’s not true repentance if you don’t change.
Shall we remain unrepented or shall we try and hope again?
