What Do You Hear? - The Watch Letter

Some weeks ago, Chief Apostle H.C. Gunn asked us: What did we hear? That question is still ringing. When the word is preached are we hearing or are we ignoring or are we listening to the wrong voice? Today, I am compelled to ask: Who and what are we listening to?

Chief Apostle Gunn always tells us to take every situation back to the foundation of God's word. The word is like a mirror and it will show you the truth about yourself. We must take time to urgently examine what is influencing us and our homes. Think of it like this: The ways of the world are heavily influenced by the music people listen to. So, what/who is influencing us? What are our spiritual and natural ears hearing? What melody are we moving to? Is it of Heaven or hell?

God has been speaking loudly to the people of God and to the unsaved. He has been crying out day after day urging us to listen! After Chief Apostle Gunn taught "What Did You Hear?" Apostle Ordean Peterson preached "Hear Ye, Hear Ye" what the Lord is saying. And after those two messages, it was clear God was trying to get our attention. In the series of messages that followed: Apostle Angel Lewis asked us to check to see what kind of blood and fruit was on or in our hands (of Jesus or of sin?). Apostle Rahman Stewart asked us to go beyond saying we want to do something or change and be willing to do it. Apostle Keta Wiggins asked us to trust the Lord and those who he has sent. Apostle Terah Josey asked us to obey God all the way and get rid of all the sin that rules our lives.

But did we listen? Those that are of the spirit will hear the things of the spirit, but those that are of the flesh/world will hear the things of the flesh/world.

It seems that often the whispers of wickedness drown out God's voice and the voices of those he sent to cry in the wilderness of our ways. So, today I am asking us to examine who and what we are listening to. The Bible says faith comes by hearing. So, who and what we are listening to the most is where we have placed our faith (to place complete trust or confidence in). And if our faith is not placed in God, then we are not the saints we claim to be. We are ain'ts. So, let's take it to the word. The word cannot lie, so if we find ourselves in anything shared below: Let's receive it and repent with swift action!

1 Corinthians 2:

10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.

Are we listening to the voice of Papa Lies? (Instructed by the devil and his ideas, suggestions, and tricks, especially in our minds and reasonings):

John 8:

41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.

42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.

44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?

47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

Are we listing to the voice of Pastor Pride? (Instructed by our stubbornness, rebellion, and unwillingness):

Psalm 10:

3 For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth.

4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.

5 His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.

6 He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.

7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.

Are we listening to the voice of Fleshy Jessie? (Instructed by our flesh/desires/feelings/emotions):

Romans 8

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Are we listening to Mesus Needus? (Instructed by our wants, justifications, self-worship, and own false doctrine):

Philippians 2

3. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Are we listening to Counselor Cloaker? (Instructed by a mindset of holding back, operating in secret sin, sweeping things under the rug):

Proverbs 28

7 Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.

8 He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.

9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

10 Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.

11 The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.

12 When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.

13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

14 Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.

Are we listening to the voice of Foolish Freddy? (Choosing not to use Godly judgement or discretion, & not to follow wisdom, or having silly; vain; trifling ways):

Psalm 14

1. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the Lord.

If we are listening to any of these voices, it is time for us to repent. It is time for us to ensure we do not have itching ears. Because if we continue to listen to the wrong things, we will become deaf to the things of God. How will we hear the trumpet sound and God's call to his heavenly feast if our ears are clogged up with the static of sin?

2 Timothy 4

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Not only do our ears need to be spiritually cleansed but so do our hearts, minds, souls, imaginations, consciences, and feelings/emotions. Apostle Kanya...I enjoy all of the entries that have been written in The Watch Letter, but the urgency of God truly spoke through this entry. I want to encourage you to continue running in the direction that God has you going with the blogs because people are going to have a written record of truth that they can use to come out of dry places...they will have something to help add to their walk. It may look like a small thing in the eyes of many, but little is much in the sight of God!!!!
