When the Trumpet Sounds - The Watch Letter
2 Chronicles 36:15-16 KJV
And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: but they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.
Matthew 23:34-39
Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
2 Kings 2:23-25 KJV
And he went up from thence unto Beth-el: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them. And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.
When we mock who God sends, we mock God. Above, you will see that Jerusalem's downfall was tied to how they mocked and mistreated God's messengers, HIS prophets. The adults showed the children it was okay to mock and mistreat the prophets of God and therefore many young people have operated under curses, destructions, and much more because their parents introduced them, by example, to mocking God by mocking HIS prophets.
Why do we mock God's prophets?
Because we have itching ears.
2 Timothy 4:3
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
You see, we want to hear what the prophet has to say when we feel like we are getting our way, but when the Lord tells him to tell us something we don't want to hear, we rebel in our hearts, water down what he says, try to manipulate him into saying what we want to hear, hold back on our givings and support of the ministry, don't return his calls or call him, stop praying for him, spread lies and rumors, and the list goes on.
I know a story of a person whose whole life changed because of the words and insight God gave the prophet but when that same prophet gave them other instructions that they didn't want to hear they began to portray him to others as a false prophet and sought out his and the church's demise. Now, we may shake our heads and say that is so wrong of them, but what if that person is one of us? Judas was right in the midst of Jesus but sought to destroy him.
Sometimes we wonder, why hasn't God answered our prayer, why are things so out of order in our lives, or why are our spirits so vexed? Well, if we won't hear and receive the prophet that God sent, how do we expect God to be heard or received? God doesn't impose himself on us, so if we reject his prophet we reject him.
Yes, there are false prophets out there but there are also real prophets too. A tree is known by its fruit. We know the prophets who have fruit. How they live and their faithfulness shows they are of God and what they say comes from God, which is backed up by the scriptures. We also know the false prophets that simply say what they can guess is true or what they know we want to hear. Sometimes we are those false prophets. We tell and convince ourselves that God is saying something or directing us to do something because it's really just us wanting to have our way.
Yesterday, during at-home service, I played a previous broadcast where our Pastor and God's Prophet Chief Apostle Gunn was talking about Proverbs 10:22. When something or someone comes from God, it/they add to you and don't cause you sorrow, confusion and strife. When a prophet, which is a blessing from God, is sent to us they only add to our lives and help us avoid sorrow, confusion and strife. Sometimes through our decisions, disobedience and disrespect for God's word we bring these things on ourselves but a true prophet of God always speaks solutions into our lives, not problems and that has been who Chief Apostle Gunn has been; not just to the members of The Body of Christ, but to people around the world.
But here is where we fail. We allow God and his prophet to add to our lives but we don't want to add to or see anything added to the prophet. I have witnessed people plot, plan and scheme to find ways to do the minimum toward the prophet but expect him to give his last and all of his time for them. And that is wicked. God's word says he does not bless the wicked. So, if you are mistreating the prophet (which is again mistreating God) those blessings you think you have, who are they from? Are you living a false reality thinking you are so blessed by God and so comfortable but all along satan, the father of wickedness, is your sponsor?
Proverbs 3:33
The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.
Hebrews 13:17
Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
After the fall of mankind in Genesis, we as people could not be left to ourselves. As evidenced in the Bible, God knew we needed people who could lead us and guide us on his behalf, so over history he has sent prophets into the earth to warn us, guide us, instruct us, comfort us and encourage us unto His will.
Often people think that listening to the prophet is optional but is it really? If God is speaking through a person is it optional to listen to God through them? It is the same thing as hearing God speak through a loudspeaker. His voice is being carried through an instrument. And that is who His prophets are. They are God's instruments and His trumpets.
Look what happened to the people who didn't listen to God's trumpet Noah? Or Jeremiah? And the list goes on.
Jeremiah 7:22-27
For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices: But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you. But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.
Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day I have even sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them: Yet they hearkened not unto me, nor inclined their ear, but hardened their neck: they did worse than their fathers. Therefore thou shalt speak all these words unto them; but they will not hearken to thee: thou shalt also call unto them; but they will not answer thee.
The world, and our flesh, try to fool us into believing there are no prophets in the earth or that they don't really speak for God... and so we listen. But how foolish are we? We listen to the weatherman, we listen to financial predictions, and some of us even still read horoscopes and fortune cookies (which are random things we allow to speak over our lives that are not from God, so they are actually curses). But when we are sick, when we are hurt, when we are broken, when we need comfort or financial blessings we call for prayer, we call for the pastor, we call for the saints. You can't treat God's people and his anointed like a genie in the bottle. God cannot be mocked and cannot be fooled.
Galatians 6: 6-10
Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Will you be ready…. When the trumpet sounds that day? This is a song our choir has sung and it’s singing loudly today. While many may say they are waiting for the sounding of the trumpet when Jesus returns, I believe God is calling attention to the fact that his trumpets are already sounding on earth through his prophets and we have turned a death ear. So, what if we miss His coming, what if we miss His visitation, what if we miss His instructions on how to access his kingdom on earth, because we refuse to regard his prophets?
At the Body of Christ, we are blessed to have a pastor who is also a prophet of God. Every single word and warning that Chief Apostle Gunn has given me and others from the Lord has come to pass. But I haven’t always heeded the message of the prophet. I remember some years ago, Chief Apostle Gunn kept warning me to drink water, warning me that God was emphasizing I needed to drink water. Months later, I got sick. And it seemed like I could not get over the sickness no matter what medicine I took or what I did. The prophet came to me and said: you needed to drink water, that is the reason you stayed sick so long ... you need more water to flush your system.
After I drank more water, and finally obeyed the prophet, the sickness began to flush out of my system. Of course, I didn’t like water because I wanted sweet drinks and that speaks volumes - and reminds me of the itching ears I referred to at the beginning of this blog. We never want to receive, hear or partake in what’s truly good for us because we prefer what feels good or tastes good instead -- in other words what satisfies our flesh.
Just imagine if I would have listened and drank the water the first time. I would not have had to deal with sickness for so long.
Chief Apostle Gunn warned about a virus coming because people didn’t wash their hands several years ago, then COVID came. He warned that America was going to have empty shelves, become like a third-world country and lose its defense and protection -- and we are seeing that happen every day. He warned the church about many marriages being in jeopardy years ago because couples weren't obeying the Lord and the pastor, then many divorces came. He recently warned the local church that the devil was building stations in our homes concerning the children because of not taking/backing the teaching and what adults were allowing, and then the children were in grave trouble at school and in their personal lives. God never wants calamity to befall us, so he warns us through his word and through his prophets, but when we don’t listen we invite that calamity in.
He sounds the trumpet whenever danger or anything he wants us to be aware of is on the way through His prophets because he loves us. The scriptures tell us that God's sending His prophets to people is an act of His compassion. But we reject that love and accept the danger or problems time and time again when we don't heed or acknowledge the prophet. And it goes deeper than that. The Bible also tells us that if we reject the Lord's prophets and fail to see their coming as a blessing, we will not see Him.
Again, what if the trumpet that sounds when Jesus comes back for his people is that of a prophet, but we miss the call because we reject him? Noah warned the people that the world as they knew it was coming to an end and God had provided salvation through the arc, but many missed that salvation because they wanted to do things their way and not God's way and counted his prophet foolish.
Matthew 24:37-40
But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
