Where Would We Be Without the Preacher???

Romans 10:14 - How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

Have you ever read scripture that you could not understand and then when the pastor preaches about that scripture later he makes it so clear that even a baby can understand? Have you ever prayed hard for an answer but felt like you couldn't hear God's direct voice and then the pastor calls you with a message from the Lord and the answer you were praying for? Have you ever been in a battle or struggle and out of the blue received a call, visit or letter from your pastor with the guidance, direction, prayer, remedy, and even financial resources you needed to make it through?

Well, I have and so have so many others at our church and beyond. From praying for the healing of my eyes when the doctors could not find a solution to teaching me how to give, forgive, truly care for others and rest in God, to guiding me through some of the most painful decisions and experiences in my life --- Our pastor, Chief Apostle H.C. Gunn, has helped me to grow in faith, love, and relationship with God because of his teaching, his ministry, his patience, and faith. He has been not only a pastor but also a father and counselor. Romans 10:17 also says that "faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God."

This is evidence that it is our spiritual leaders who help to make the word come alive in our lives and lead us to learn to trust and understand the word of God. My pastor has shown me that being saved is not just an action or decision but a lifestyle. We have to live and love with and for God every day and he teaches this by being a living example on how to trust and depend on the Lord in everything and at all times.

If it had not been for the labor of Chief Apostle H.C. Gunn, I know that we at the Body of Christ, Inc. would have had stunted growth in our spiritual walks. We would have not experienced the teachings, healings, revelations, deliverances, revivals, encouragements, helps, and spiritual strengthenings that we have every day since we walked through those doors. We have learned through our pastor's example to allow your soul to prosper by obedience to the word and we have learned how to truly love God with all of our heart, soul and our mind.

Jeremiah 3:15 - And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

Because pastors play such a critical role in our walk of salvation, God encourages the saints to honor those who labor on our behalf.

In fact, the Bible says:

Hebrews 13:7 - Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.

AND

1 Timothy 5:17 - Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.
